Rihanna, who was born in Saint Michael and grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados became an audition for Evan Rogers, an American record producer. He invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. Following her signing with Def Jam in 2005, she gained not long after the release of her first two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), both of which were inspired by Caribbean music, and both reached the top ten spots on the US Billboard 200 chart.
